  • The oil formulation for relief from colds, congestion, catarrh, sinuses and fever

For those little blocked noses that find our traditional Olbas just a bit too powerful, Olbas for Children is a gentle decongestant formulation to relieve congestion in even the smallest noses of the family – from as young as 3 months.

Directions:

For babies from 3 months to 2 years Add 4 drops of Olbas for Children to a tissue or hanky and hold it close to, but not touching, the congested little nose so the vapours can start to take effect. At night time simply sprinkle 4 drops of Olbas for Children onto a tissue or hanky and place out of reach in their bedroom. For children aged 2 and over Add 8 to 12 drops onto a tissue or hanky and hold close to, but not touching, the child's nose to allow the child to breathe in the vapours. At night, add 8-12 drops into a bowl of hot water and allow your child to inhale the vapours through the steam – we don't like children to be left alone with hot water so please ensure your child is supervised at all times.StorageUse according to instructions on or in pack. You should carefully read all product packaging and leaflets prior to use. For further advice contact us or another healthcare professional.

Olbas Oil for Children is a gentler formulation of the classic Olbas Oil designed specifically for young children and infants (from about 3 months of age onward).

It is intended for inhalation (vapour therapy) to help relieve nasal congestion, blocked sinuses, and respiratory discomfort.

The formulation includes a blend of essential oils (such as eucalyptus, cajuput, clove, juniper berry, mint, etc.) in a base (e.g. isopropyl myristate) to allow vapour release.

It is packaged in a small dropper bottle (10 ml) with a child-resistant cap and dropper for controlled dosing.

Features

1. Milder than original Olbas formulation

It is formulated to be less intense / less irritating for sensitive young nasal passages compared to the standard Olbas Oil.

2. Natural essential oil vapours

The vapours released by the essential oil blend help open nasal and bronchial passages.

3. Easy to dose via drops

You don’t apply directly into the nose — you place drops on a tissue (or in a vaporizer, in older children) so the child inhales the vapour.

4. Safe for infants (above a minimum age)

According to the manufacturer, usable from about 3 months of age upward (with careful use).

5. Non-greasy

Because the mode is inhalation and not topical, it doesn’t leave greasy residue on skin.

6. Compact & portable

The 10 ml size is small and convenient, making it easier to carry for travel or use at home.

Benefits / What It Helps With

Relief of nasal congestion / blocked noses

The vapours help loosen mucus and ease breathing through the nose.

Support during colds, flu, sinus congestion, hayfever

It may help ease symptoms associated with upper respiratory discomforts.

Gentle for young children / infants

Because it is a milder version, it is better tolerated by smaller children than full-strength vapour rubs or decongestants.

Non-invasive method

No need for forceful sprays or drops inside nostrils — inhalation via tissue / ambient vapour is gentler.

Convenient night-time support

You can place a tissue with drops or leave vapour in the child’s room (out of reach) to help breathing during sleep.

Precautions, Side Effects & Warnings

Allergies / sensitivity: Do not use if the child is allergic to any of the ingredients.

Not for infants under 3 months (except under medical supervision) in many formulations.

Avoid broken or irritated skin: Should not be applied to broken skin.

Eye contact or ingestion: If it contacts eyes or is swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.

Irritation / stinging: If contact with skin or mucous membranes occurs, it may sting or irritate temporarily.

Limited use duration: If symptoms worsen or do not improve after about 7 days, see a doctor.

Storage: Store below ~25 °C, keep out of reach of children, and do not use after expiry.

Avoid certain interactions: For example, if applying on skin while also on blood thinners (like warfarin), caution is needed (though inhalation use is less concerning).

Risk of misuse: Because packaging may resemble eye drops, care must be taken not to instill into eyes mistakenly.

Nose perforation risk with frequent direct nasal instillation (hence direct dropping inside the nostril is discouraged).
