Considerations / Limitations
To use it well, or to set expectations, also note:
Ear wax / cleaning: The presence of earwax, or if probe is not positioned properly, can distort reading. Needs care.
Need for lens filters: If you don’t have filters, or use dirty ones, hygiene or accuracy can suffer. Also an ongoing cost.
Ambient temperature effect: Very hot or very cold rooms, or recent exposure (e.g. sleeping on one side), can influence the result; Braun suggests waiting in some conditions.
No “Age Precision” feature: Unlike some more advanced Braun models, ThermoScan 3 does not have an age-adjustment mode. That is, the threshold for what’s a “fever” isn’t adjusted per age; you interpret the number manually.
